| 1. Written by Andy on October 30, 2010 Yeah trust me an inquiry on your credit report doesn't lower your score THAT much. It only lowers it by a fraction of a percentage point. Probably what got you is having so many inquiries on your credit report within such a short period of time. If you apply for 10 credit cards, 5 loans and a savings account in one day that's generally frowned upon and considered a huge credit risk. Those inquiries will drop off over time and generally I'm not aware of any way for companies (like Belco) to remove an inquiry from your report. If they could remove it that would defeat the purpose of having an inquiry show up on your report. This is a classic example of why it's so important to learn how the credit scoring/reporting system works so you can avoid the pitfalls of it. You gotta learn how to play the game before you can win it! |
| 2. Written by cuddlecat on April 2, 2009 It is not a matter of how you pay your bills that effects credit scores. That only has a percentage of the scoring. Pulling your credit for credit transactions show up and DO bring down scores. Just look at Transunion- they say that more than 2 pulls in 2 years is excessive and say it when you do apply for credit as to why the score is lower. I have no bills that are late and I do pay everything on time. I was turned down for a Sears credit card due to "too many" pulls of my credit. Well, I have bought a home, a new car and opened a new credit card from Chase and went back to school and applied for a student loan. I had trouble with the credit card because of too many credit pulls. Scott and me,me,me: I ask you to check out myfico.com and read for yourself how credit scoring works. They may not have done you wrong, but your ignorance on the subject will get you in the future. I pay bills on time and love that my scores are in the 700's, but it is still wrong to pull as a credit transaction when it was not an application for credit. That is illegal and if I only had the application I signed I would have went much further than this with this situation...beleive me. |

Written by Diane on March 31, 2009 I agree everyone pulls your credit report and that is why they should stop with the credit scores and go back to how you pay your bills...I never been late always pay more then balance...Many auto and loans paid in full prefect on payments..you think I have a excellent score...nope dont know how anyone can have that one I am only good at 715..cause to many *** company checking my record to apply for *** credit cards or other things I never ask them or even knew them looks at my record..trust me they dont need your permission to do that or I never have anything on record except my own bills that is on it .... |
| 4. Written by Me Me Me on February 20, 2008 AGREED!!! EVERYONE pulls your credit these days. Cell phones, car insurance, house phone, utilities, even Netflix on some occassions. Don't worry lady, one credit pull isn't going to bring your credit down. It's when you have multiple pulls in a 2 week time frame...get a life, they were doing the right thing!!!! |
